The 13th season of the quadrennial One Day International (ODI) cricket competition, which is hosted by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and competed in by national teams, will take place in 2023. The event, which takes place from October 5 to November 19, 2023, will be hosted by India.
Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, and Sri Lanka are the ten national teams who will compete in the event. The Men’s Cricket World Cup will be the first to be exclusively hosted by India. In 1987, 1996, and 2011, together with other nations on the Indian subcontinent, India co-hosted the event with other nations. The first and second semifinal matches will be played at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium and Kolkata’s Eden Gardens, respectively, throughout the course of the competition. The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host the championship game.

The 12th edition of the Cricket World Cup, an ODI cricket competition played every four years between men’s national teams and hosted by the International Cricket Council (ICC), took place in 2019. From May 30 to July 14, 2019, England and Wales hosted the competition. Wales hosted the World Cup for the third time, while England hosted it for the fifth time.Ten teams competed in this edition of the event, which was a decrease from the 14 teams in the previous season. A round-robin group stage with the top four teams advancing to the knockout round replaced the previous tournament structure.
India, Australia, England, and New Zealand won the top four slots after six weeks of round-robin games, with four of those games ending in ties. A Super Over was played after the final game, which saw both sides score 241 runs, finished in a tie. The boundary countback rule was used to decide who won the Super Over after it too finished in a tie. Total attendance in the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup was 752,000.
