Six people die in Andhra when an express train and a stationary passenger train collide.
An overhead cable failure caused a passenger train traveling from Visakhapatnam to Rayagada to come to a stop. Three carriages of the Palasa Express are said to have derailed as a result of the collision with the halted train. This last Sunday’s tragedy in Andhra Pradesh, which left six dead and eighteen injured, was eerily similar to another catastrophic disaster in Odisha that claimed almost 280 lives. The Kantakapalli train accident in the Vijayanagaram district was deeply regretted by the Chief Minister’s Office, which also directed quick relief measures and prompt medical attention for those affected. A lot of ambulances from surrounding districts should be dispatched, and quick event updates should be made sure of.
