Neptune: discovered in 23 September
Nepptune, the third-largest planet in the solar system, is the eighth and outermost planet from the Sun. Due to its extreme distance from Earth, it cannot be seen with the naked eye. Neptune’s orbit is nearly circular, and as a result, its distance from the Sun changes very little during its approximately 164-year orbit. While some smaller objects like Pluto have orbits that can take them farther from the Sun than Neptune, Neptune’s highly elliptical orbit means that it is, on average, closer to the Sun than Pluto for about 20 years of each orbital period.
